Fact 1 on Mandulis: This ancient god was also known as Marul or Merwel. His original Nubian name was Marul.

Fact 2 on Mandulis: The cult of Mandulis was based in Kalabsha on the west bank of the Nile River, in Nubia. The location of Kalabsha was about 40 miles (60 km) south of Aswan.

Fact 3 on Mandulis: During the 18th dynasty of the New Kingdom the great pharaoh Thutmose III (r.1479–1424 BC), the stepson of Hatshepsut, created the largest empire Egypt had ever known through his military campaigns and conquests that included Nubia.

Fact 4 on Mandulis: The above picture of this Nubian god is from the Temple of Kalabsha in Nubia and is heavily influenced by the culture of the ancient Egyptians. The Temple of Kalabsha was originally built around 30 BC during the early Roman era. The temple of Kalabsha was relocated after the Aswan High Dam was built, to protect it from rising waters on Lake Nasser.

Fact 5 on Mandulis: The god is depicted as a bird with a human head, bearing a remarkable resemblence to the traditional representation of the Ba, the part of the soul believed to be able to fly and was able to leave the tomb. The Ba was represented in ancient Egyptian art as a bird, a hawk, with a human head that symbolized the deceased.

Fact 6 on Mandulis: The god is depicted wearing the Hemhem Crown of Egypt. The Hemhem crown first appeared in the reign of Akhenaten of the 18th dynasty of Egyptian rulers and was connected to the sun and rebirth. Akhenaten worshipped Aten, described as being the god of the sun

Fact 7 on Mandulis: The picture depicts Mandulis surrounded by images of the lotus the Egyptian symbol that represented the sun, of creation, rebirth and was an emblem of Upper Egypt.

Fact 8 on Mandulis: He is referred to as the "Great god, lord of Talmis" in reference to the Roman garrison town of Talmis, now called Kalabsha, which was the center of his cult.

Fact 9 on Mandulis: He was also worshipped in at Philae at a shrine approaching the Temple of Isis
